About: I've been called a cultural hacker. I've made two feature films (The Last Broadcast, Head Trauma) which I self distributed around the world. I'm also into cross media storytelling and gaming. I've produced a couple ARGs and I'm currently working on a number of new projects.

I founded the Workbook Project and I'm a co-founder of From Here to Awesome.

What do you think needs to change about the film industry? The system is broken and there are to many gatekeepers between the filmmaker and the audience.
What types of stories do you like to tell? cross media stories - that travel across mediums and platforms
What's the biggest obstacle that filmmakers face? discovery
How do you use the interent when it comes to filmmaking? To build community around the work that I do
What should from here to awesome be? An open discussion about the future of funding, producing, distributing and discovering stories

The Next Social Networks Will Be Powered By WordPress and Movable Type

Platforms like WordPress and Movable Type democratized the process of self-publishing. With these tools, everyone could be a publisher and it didn't require advanced technical expertise to do so. Now, the next revolution for publishing is to bring that same ease of creation to the process of building social networks.

Your website actually scared me. Note to self - don't wear headphones at 1am while listening to old scary doods speak from flames.

Nice work man - site looks amazing.

lance weiler:

new festival partners have come on board this week. Amazon Unbox, Power to the Pixel and DogWoof. Also there is a cool new "call for submission video in the works." We are doing a large press and promotional push next week. If anyone has suggestions on blogs or online outlets to target please drop a comment and let us know.

arin crumley:

Good call lance, Crowdvine seems pretty cool, like that I can put my rss feeds in.

lance weiler:

Welcome to the FHTA crowdvine. Our hope is that we can use this to create a sense of community around the upcoming fest.
